Accessibility & Inclusivity at Daffodil

At Daffodil, we believe that exceptional hospitality begins with welcome. Our vision is for every visitor – regardless of background, ability or circumstance – to enjoy their time with us fully, safely and comfortably.

Our Approach

Daffodil is a heritage asset reimagined for a new era. We are committed to balancing the building’s unique character with thoughtful design and ongoing adaptations that make our spaces as accessible and inclusive as possible. Accessibility is central to our ethos: we listen, learn and adapt to remove barriers, while celebrating the diversity of our visitors.

Physical Accessibility

  • Step-free access is available to our main entrance and primary public areas.
  • One fully accessible toilet services both the upper and main deck.
  • The lower deck provides accessible-friendly toilets with stepped access. We are actively exploring renovations to improve welfare access across all decks.
  • Dedicated seating areas are provided with space for wheelchair users and companions.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the venue.
  • Hearing loops are installed at key service points.

Inclusive Facilities & Services

  • Our team completes Equality & Diversity training through CPL systems, refreshed regularly to maintain awareness and confidence.
  • Large-print menus and information are available on request.
  • Dietary needs and cultural preferences are carefully catered for, with clear labelling and staff support.
  • Lighting and soundscapes are designed with sensory comfort in mind, and quiet spaces can be made available when needed.
  • While we do not currently provide braille menus or have BSL-trained staff, our commitment to inclusivity drives us to continuously review and improve these services.

Digital Accessibility

  • The Daffodil website has been designed and tested to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, ensuring compatibility with screen readers, accessible colour contrast, and keyboard navigation.
  • Visitors can access detailed information online, including practical guidance on accessibility features, so that planning a visit is straightforward.

Community & Inclusivity

  • We are proud to be aligned with citywide safety and crime prevention initiatives for the night-time economy, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Daffodil is an active participant in collaborative reporting and partnership work with Royal Albert Dock, National Museums Liverpool, and other waterfront stakeholders, strengthening inclusivity and safety across the area.
  • We operate a zero-tolerance approach to harassment or discrimination, and are committed to national initiatives such as Ask for Angela to ensure that all visitors feel secure.
  • Our food, drink and cultural programmes celebrate the diverse communities of Merseyside, reflecting the richness of our city region.

Our Commitment

Daffodil is a place where everyone belongs. We will continue to invest in accessibility and inclusivity through design, staff training, and community partnerships. If you have specific requirements, or suggestions on how we can improve, we invite you to contact us before your visit – our team will always do everything possible to make your experience a positive one.
